Modified on Fri, 28 Aug at 2:39 AM

Overview

The Print tool allows you to create map outputs directly from AssetWhere. You can customize the map extent, layout, scale, legend, logo, and export format before downloading your map.

How to Print Your Map

Step 1: Select your area

Log in to AssetWhere and navigate to the area you would like to include in your exported map. For quicker access, you can use the Navigation Tool  to select the site, building, or room you would like to print, then click the magnifying glass to zoom to your area of interest. The map will automatically centre on the selected location.

Step 2: Open Print Settings
Once you have selected your area of interest and enabled the layers you would like to include in the map, click the Print button in the top menu.

Step 3: Configuring Your Map

The print map interface will open. Review and adjust the settings described below before printing

  1. Red box: Indicates the map extent that will be included in the printout.

  2. Layer Manager: Turn layers on or off depending on which information you want to include in the printed map.
Tip: We highly recommend turning off the open street map layer under images.
  3. Layout: Choose the required paper size and orientation. The available options are:
    • A4 Landscape
    • A4 Portrait
    • A3 Landscape
    • A3 Portrait
    • A2 Landscape
    • A2 Portrait
  4. Format: Choose the output file format. The available options are:
    • PDF
    • JPG
    • GIF
    • PNG
  5. Scale: The scale textbox is non-editable. To change the scale, use the standard AssetWhere zoom tools, such as the mouse scroll wheel, the +/– buttons (a), or the scale control (b).

  6. Rotation: Adjust the map orientation using the rotation slider. Drag the slider left or right for quick adjustments, or double-click the value field to enter a precise rotation angle and achieve the desired map alignment.

  7. View Extents: Adjust the visible map extent by resizing or repositioning the red box. This helps you focus on the area you want to print, or select another building or location for a separate printout.

  8. Title block: Enter additional information that will appear on the printout:
    • Title: Use this field for the building name or map title.
    • Author: Use this field for the author name or other relevant information, such as levels.
    • Comments: Add any comments you want displayed on the printout.
  9. Legend and logo:Choose whether to display the legend, the school logo, both, or neither
    • Show legend and logo: Displays both the legend and school logo.
    • Show legend: Displays the legend only.
    • Show logo: Displays the logo only.
    • No legend and logo: Hides both the legend and school logo.
  10. Legend Items: If the legend is displayed, select the checkboxes for the map elements you want listed in the legend.

Step 4: Print You Map

Once you have finished configuring the print settings, click Print

The map will be generated and automatically downloaded to your computer in the selected format and layout. The file will typically be saved to your default Downloads folder, depending on your browser and computer settings.

To return to AssetWhere without printing, click Cancel.

Tips

  • Use the Layer Manager to remove unnecessary layers before printing.
  • Adjust the map extent to focus on a specific building, asset, or area of interest.
  • PDF is recommended for high-quality map outputs and sharing with others.
